His career and life history as a director of Ford UK and later Fiat, Italy demonstrates an impressive contribution to business and an admirable dedication to developing a motivated, skilled workforce. After having being offered the chance by his employer to educate himself, he has ensured that others enjoy the same opportunity. He is committed to fostering entrepreneurship and at the age of 67 he and his team are still developing schemes to ensure that new business starts up in areas of regeneration and that employees who suffer redundancy find fulfilling employment.
 
Mel Lambert’s contribution to promoting good practice and developing greater employer-employee understanding has been outstanding. He has been involved in CBI policy making for over fifteen years; his excellent knowledge and experience of Human Resources providing a key steer for CBI lobbying.
